Is something false just because I want it to be true?
Just because I want something to be true doesn't prove that it is, but the fact that I want it to be true and I get some psychological benefit out of it doesn't prove that it's false either.
Some of the things that we want to believe in must be true. Not everything that we want to be true could possibly be false or imaginary.
