A leap in the dark or a step into the light?
Regarding the relationship between faith and reason, there are two wrong extremes. One extreme says that faith and reason are mutually exclusive. But a biblical view of faith assumes the need for investigation and evidence as part of the process. Jesus said we should love God with our heart, soul, strength and mind, so the mind is definitely an important part. One could argue that a certain amount of skepticism or discernment is actually encouraged in the Bible so that we look before we leap.
