Christians pretend to be better than everyone else
All of us get turned off by hypocrisy. Some define a hypocrite as someone who lives inconsistently with the standard he holds up as the way he and others ought to live.

If that is hypocrisy, then wouldn't everyone be a hypocrite? None of us measures up to the way we know we ought to live. The word for that kind of routine failure is sin. We all sin, but that doesn't make us all hypocrites. All hypocrisy is sin, but not all sin is hypocrisy. So, maybe a hypocrite isn't so much a person who fails to measure up to a standard, but one who pretends to measure up to a standard that he or she falls short of.
